Lyric Love :: Freedom at 21

26 Apr

Jack White’s solo album Blunderbuss is FINALLY out and man-oh-man do I love it. While it’s been hard to nail down an actual favorite I think I’ve finally settled on Freedom at 21. He played it live when I saw him a few months ago and it JAMMED so hard, I kind of fell in love with it then. But now that I’ve had a chance to hear the studio version, as well as a couple of live versions… it’s pretty much a done deal. Freedom at 21 is my fuckin JAM.

cut off the bottoms of my feet
make me walk on salt
take me down to the police
charge me with assault
a smile on her face
she does what she wants to me

that’s right and
she don’t care what kind of wounds she’s inflicted on me
she don’t care what color bruises that she’s leavin’ on me
cus she’s got freedom in the 21st century

two black gadgets in her hands
all she thinks about
no responsibility no guilt or morals
cloud of judgement
smile on her face
she does what she damn well please

and she don’t care about the things people used to do
she don’t care that what she does has an effect on you
she’s got freedom in the 21st century

cut off the bottoms of my feet… cut off the bottoms of my feet
make me walk on salt… make me walk on salt
take me down to the police… take me down to the police
